The 2006 and 2007 football games between rivals Missouri and Kansas have been moved to the Saturday of Thanksgiving week each year, as announced today by the schools.  The moves come at the request of the Big 12 Conference, and will result in guaranteed television opportunities for both contests.

The 2006 game, originally scheduled for Nov. 11th in Columbia, Mo., will now be played on Nov. 25th, with the 2007 game in Lawrence now moved to Nov. 24th, from its original date of Sept. 29th.  Times and television details are not yet set, and will be determined at a later date.

"We're very pleased to make this adjustment, and appreciate the conference office working to get this great rivalry the exposure it deserves," said Associate Director of Athletics Ed Stewart.  "The Missouri-Kansas game used to be played almost exclusively at the end of the season, so moving this game back to its traditional time should be a positive for our fans, and the added exposure for our football program is a definite benefit, as well," he said.

"I appreciate the cooperation of both institutions in working with our broadcast partners to move this game so that it may be showcased to a television audience," said Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg.
